One channel is a dependency, not a strategy
A listing that gets all its bookings from one platform is one algorithm change away from a bad month. Most hosts know this in the abstract but have never mapped which channels bring guests in practice, beyond 'people find me on the app.'
Awareness isn't the same as having options
Knowing a booking came from a platform search is one thing. Knowing whether a repeat guest, a referral, or a direct search played any part is another, and it's the second one that shows where there's room to grow beyond a single source.
Why the mapping never gets done
It's not complicated work, but it's not urgent either, which is exactly the kind of task that gets pushed indefinitely while the calendar stays full enough not to force the question.
